Mrs. Meritage

You are a flapper/free spirit.  You love the drink, dance, and exotic new fads that come in.  Your husband is a captain that served in WWI so you learned to spend much time on your own.  He is much more reserved about having such "fun-times" as war has hardened him.

More background

Ok, so you weren’t completely faithful to him during the war.  You had a few… ok, several flings.  A gal gets lonely!  Besides, none of them were serious - just satisfying your lust.

Your reasons for being here are twofold – you like the evening speakeasy here at the Eaton and your husband wants to hear this Mr. J. Meister speak.

You’ve been here before, but only recognize Porter Port and Mr. Adams, the bartender.

What has happened

Last night, while your husband enjoyed the drinks, he went to bed relatively early.  He expected you to follow suit soon after, but you had other things in mind.

Specifically the charm of Mr. Blanc had you swooning (and also the fact that he is married and with his wife made it seem that much more devious).  You exchanged more than sweet words at the speakeasy.  It seems Mr. Blanc is one of those fancy new insurance salesman and he just had a big ticket of getting the Eaton fire insurance at very high rates.  You thought it best not to upset your husband too much on your first night out, so you headed back to bed shortly after midnight.  On the way out, Mr. Blanc passed you a note to meet him in the basement the next day at 2pm.

At 1:55pm you were in the basement thinking to surprise Mr. Blanc and at least not get found out by anyone else.  You hid in the utility closet which had a nice keyhole to look out of.  Quick with adrenaline, you by chance noticed a lumpy thing next to you.  You opened the door to get more light in and saw this mangled, blood covered male body.  You screamed and quickly fainted.

You came to with Mr. Blanc, Mr. Merlot, and Detective Pinot-Noir helping you to.  Needless to say you had some explaining to do to your husband and the detective, but you used being faint as an excuse to ward off any answers until the evening.

Advice

Your in a squeeze – you can’t avoid Noir or your husband too long, and you should thank Mr. Blanc for helping you come to, but you can’t seem overly nice, etc.  Guess you’ve done nothing wrong, but…

Probably makes sense to meet with everyone you should already know, too.

Follow up with those about the fire/insurance.  Who could that body have been?
