You are the chairwoman of the Women's Voter League. You are responsible for all of your league's members here at your large meeting being held at the Eaton Hotel. You have a very special guest arriving to speak. You also have disagreement among your members about the benefits of prohibition and new fads. You do well keeping them in line though often you, too, become appalled at those who drink (let alone openly) and with those women who choose to show so much skin.
You know you don’t like this Mr. J. Meister and you’re positive that you convince all that hear you (at least your ladies) that prohibition has been good for America and that the new moral decay is due to those who don’t obey the prohibition laws.
Nothing except this horrible storm. It was very nice of the Eaton to host this debate (the Silveroaks are very generous), but you are not happy about some of the clientele that seem to be here.
Also, you have yet to see or hear from Mr. J. Meister – could his arrival on the Excelsior train be delayed from the storm or is he trying to be sneaky in making his appearance right before the debate. You don’t like sneaky, but that’s ok as you hope to finally get Miss Tonic to take picture of the two of you debating.
With all the different drinks, you’re not sure if any are alcoholic but you doubt they’d have the audacity to serve you something that was, especially with your reputation.
A few of the ladies’ husbands are not here as they were spending some of the day trying to help clear away the snow and see other sites downtown (like at Ackerman island). Assuming the storm has kept them from returning yet, you also will want to remove any worries they may have as you’re sure the men can take care of themselves (though you sometimes have to take care of your husband).
Advice
Finding out about the debate would be good – maybe the house staff would know, or at least those in charge. Make sure your ladies are behaving like ladies and maybe they’ve seen or heard of something.
You want to make the WVL look good especially if there are any reporters here.
